The Rangers posted on Facebook that they have reached a deal with the Minnesota Wild. In this deal, the Wild will add Mike Rupp to their roster and pay his yearly salary of 1.5 million American dollars. Rupp will no longer wear a New York Rangers uniform and “skate” as a member of their fourth line. He will now lose fights for the Minnesota Wild.
In exchange for this roster deletion, the Rangers will receive
approximately 47 vulcanized rubber hockey pucks and a sack made of cloth to transport them, two actual NHL players named not later, but now.
Darroll Powe (odd spelling) and Nick Palmieri come to the Rangers and Rupper goes Wild!
Aside from one huge game on a baseball diamond in Philly, in his 88 game (regualr season and playoffs) NYR tenure, Rupp really didn’t do much of anything.

Even if Palmieri and Powe turn out to be nothing at all for the NYR, Rupp won’t be missed. Despite his 6’5″ frame, with or without Rupp, the Rangers will still need to find someone who can go out and protect their stars if needed. They will have little trouble finding a plodding winger to eat up 3 minutes a game on the fourth line.
Separate thought. Could this lead to a call up of JT Miller?
UPDATE – Well that didn’t take long. The Rangers have called up JT Miller and Brandon Mashinter. The Rangers now have a new best faceoff man and a fighter. Its a youth movement! Or a youthier movement!
